Draught Proofing and Window Renovation based in Edinburgh, Scotland
Our standard draught proofing service offers;
By fully dismantling your original draughty or possibly jammed sash and case windows, removing baton rods, bottom sash, parting beads and top sash. The parting beads are discarded and replaced with new routered beads which, along with both the sashes top rails and the lower bottom rail, are routered to accommodate our nylon pile brush system. Once re-assembled the brush system gives a perimeter seal round both sashes and offers ease of operation as the nylon brush slides so perfectly and tight against timber without the same old sticky friction as timber to timber may once have given.
At the same time, waxed cotton sash ropes with integral nylon cores for strength, traditional new brassware, new timber sills, new preserved sashes and replacement glazing can all be installed if you wish to bring your sash windows to an authentic condition. The only thing we offer to leave to another type of professional trade is the decoration.
New traditional Brassware items you may desire - Top eye, sash lifts, long bar lifts, Brighton fasteners, pulleys, pole and hook or even a brass pole and hook holder. For ease of cleaning - Simplex fittings such as hinges, rope clutch, baton rod screws, crocodile clips or rope plugs. For security - Locking mid rail sash fasteners, sash security screws, weeks stops.
Sash Ropes are available in various types and thicknesses, as standard we will always fit premium U.K. manufactured soft waxed cotton which has a nylon core for strength and durability. For extremely heavy windows we can offer a strong fine braided nylon cord.
Our replacement sashes are made purely to order from the same timber as the originals, except our traditionally finger jointed Redwood Pine sashes have the benefit of being preserved and are neatly glazed with traditional putty.
